Etymology (PE): Barré “ram, sheep; Aries” from Mid.Pers. warrag “lamb, ram; Aries,” compare with Av. varənâ- “wool,” Skt. urana, urabhra “wool-beared = ram,” from urna “wool,” L. vervex “a wether, sheep”.
