Etymology (PE): Rahâraftan, from rahâ “free, set free”
(O.Pers. rad- “to leave,” Skt. rah-, rahati “separates, leaves,” Av. razah- “isolation;” PIE *redh-) + raftan “to go, walk” (Mid.Pers. raftan, raw-, Proto-Iranian *rab/f- “to go; to attack”).
