Etymology (PE): Hagârdan, from ha-, variant of ham- “together,” → com-, + gâr “to observe, consider,” variants gar-, gâl- (as in engâridan “to suppose,” negaristan “to observe, look, notice,” segâlidan “to think, discuss, consider”) ultimately from Proto-Ir. *kar- “to observe, consider,” cf.
