Sepehr “sphere, celestial globe, heavens, sky;” Mid.Pers. spihr “sphere, sky, firmament, fate;” Av. spiti- in compounds: spiti-dôiθra- “with clear eyes;” Proto-Iranian *spiθra- (in proper name); cf. Skt. śvitrá- “white, whitish.”
