Etymology (PE): Âruzmân, from Av. āroc- “to enlighten, make light,” Av. raocah- “light, luminous; daylight;” Skt. roka- “brightness, light,” cognate with Gk. leukos “white, clear;” L. lux “light” (also lumen, luna);
PIE *leuk- “light, brightness” + noun forming suffix -mân.
